My Personal Recount - Huda

In February, I found out that I was in Girl Guides’ for my CCA. At first, I was truly disappointed as Guides’ was my last choice. I cried and thought of whether i should appeal out of the CCA. From my perception, Uniform Groups are very tough and commanding. Nevertheless, I decided to give Guides’ a try.
On the first day of the CCA, we had orientation. During orientation, we got to know the seniors better. They also made us bond together among the other Sec Ones. I was hyped up as i thought that it looked FUN. During orientation we mostly played games. But then, the seniors told us that this is not what they usually do during Guides’.

During the next session of Guides’, we started to do foot drills, physical trainings, and learn how to do the knots and lashings. The knots and lashings were a bit confusing, as the seniors went quite too fast. However, after they taught us as a whole level, they went to each particular group to teach us personally. After that, we were much more clearer of the method of tying the knots and lashings.

Then, we were supposed to go to the area behind the classes for foot drills. I was quite curious on what foot drills are as almost all the seniors look forward to it. But then, the first time I did foot drills, i did not like it at all. It was tiring as we had to stand under the Sun.

But then, as time passed by and when we did more foot drills, i learnt to love it as I got to reflect on myself during foot drills. Besides, foot drills teach us to persevere as we have to stand under the hot sun and listen to the seniors scolding us. They kept on saying about our postures. “Chins up, back straight! How many times must we repeat this?” It was very tiring and they also said that they were very disappointed in us, as we don’t persevere. But soon, we got better and better in it, and one day, i hope that they will be proud of us.

memorable memories

My most memorable time was when I went to Beijing. I was in Primary Five then. It was the first time I sat on the aeroplane by myself. I was very excited, but at that time in Beijing, it was at sixteen degrees. As such, we have to wear our coat to keep warm. The airport in Beijing was much more different then Singapore but also very nice. We went to Beijing’s famous restaurant to have our dinner and to our surprise, they actually served French fries after all the dishes. It was also the first time I stayed in the hotel with my friend. As we were very excited about what we were going to do the next day, we couldn’t sleep, and by the time we slept, it was already very late. The following days, we went to the different famous places and the guide was describing about the long history of Beijing and many more.

Finally, the day came where we went to climb the Great Wall of China. It was really thrilling. The stairs were not as even as we thought it was, some were high and some were low. There was a tourist that requested that I take a picture for them; I was taken aback but finally accepted their request. The steps were so uneven that I have to literally climb on all fours. After some hard work, we finally finished. All of us were overwhelmed with accomplishment. At about midnight, we boarded the plane with reluctance. We could not bear to leave the place, but we bid the place farewell and finally got back to Singapore.

Personal Recount- Mabel

Two weeks ago, I went to a birthday party celebrating my friend, Jarinda’s birthday. It was held at the barbeque pit near block 645 in Yishun, near my home. The area was clean when I arrived there at 1.25pm; probably it was cleaned up by Jarinda’s aunts earlier on. On arrival, I wished her “Happy Birthday!” and gave her my present which I prepared months ago.

As I realized that there was no time to waste(I was supposed to help out with transporting the food and filling up the water balloons), I hurried from place to place to help out while her aunts were busy with the decorations.

Finally, as friends started streaming in, all preparations were almost done. Beaming smiles were seen on everyone’s faces as we looked at the crowd delightfully. Soon, the games began and Jarinda’s third aunt taught us the rules of those games and we began having fun! The losers were thrown with water bombs and everyone had lots of fun.

However, when a boy, Glenn, lost, he was mocked and teased by a few friends and got agitated. Infuriated and hurt by their words, he stormed off as tears rolled down his beetroot red cheeks. Spirits were dampened as the whole joyful atmosphere became a solemn one. The birthday girl, well-known for cheering people up, went chasing after Glenn, as guilt struck on those who made comments about him. They joined Jarinda and caught up with Glenn who after much apology and persuasion, agreed to go back to the party for more fun.

After the games, we chatted in our cliques and played other mini games till the cake arrived and we did just the same as how everyone would celebrate their birthday: singing the birthday song, cutting the cake, taking of pictures and finally, eat the cake!

Finally after the cake-cutting ceremony, most of the guests went home while a few of us remained. Feeling bored, we decided to go to Yishun Park where there were swings and we could have fun. Before leaving the party for home at 9.20pm, I got Jarinda to open my present, and that brimming smile on her face certainly told me that I have bought the right gift, the soft toy she had really wanted for months.

This party was indeed a one worth remembrance, with every particular incident etched deeply in my mind.

Two week before school ends (ended), I went overseas to Japan . It was disappointing to leave, for by the time I reach back Singapore, it would be the last day. I had fun during my overseas trip and got updates from my friend. Before I went (for the trip), we actually had a captain’s ball competition. I had to withdraw from my team but no one wanted to replace me. Thus, we lost on the next round of game. With that, only one team managed to go to the final. It was disappointing for my team. Since there was (were) still some days left, I played with the team that was going to the final (got into the finals). It was one of the memorable moments as we trained together even after we lose (lost) and swap (swapped) team members to challenge with other classes as practice. “We won first!”My friend shouted at me the moment I called her .
The last day at Japan, I was very happy. I am finally able to meet my friends. I tried to sleep in the plane but only managed a two hours sleep. I arrived at around 2am, but, by the time I reached home it was already 2.30am. I set my alarm to 6 to get up just in time for school.
I woke up late at nine in the morning as I overslept and got ready for school .I entered my school during recess time and went straight for my friends. But I was shocked to hear that my good friend had gone to Malaysia one day before I came back and she won’t be back till we get our results. But the day ended wonderfully as we played truth or dare .

My Personal Recount

On Friday,all the Sec one guides went to the Headquarters to buy our Guides Uniform.We went with Mdm Zetty,and accompanied by 3 Sec 3s,Shirley,Jassandra and Rabiatul.We were split into groups as the shop was too small to accomadate the 33 of us.Of course,i sticked with Lois,Meena and Nadia.Without them,Guides session won't be fun at all! Jassandra and Shirley supervised the other Sec ones while each group went inside to purchase their uniform.Meanwhile,Rabiatul supervised us inside the shop.We not only had to purchase the skirt and blouse,but the uniform included a belt,hat and 2 sets of polo tee.Soon after we purchased the uniform and Guides Handbook,Meena,Lois,Nadia and me decided to go Junction 8 at Bishan to eat lunch.We were very eexcited as this was our first outing together! Right after we were dismissed,we were led by the three seniors to Bishan mrt station.When we told our seniors we were going to Junction 8,they were shocked and stared at us.We waved to them and made our way to Junction 8.Well,I skipped my way there.When we reached Junction 8,we went to MacDonalds as we have not had our lunch yet.The place was crowded.As usual,Meena was the one who kept making us laugh by making a fool of herself.Nadia was taping a video of Meena eating her burger.Mayonise was smeared on Meena's lips.My stomach ached for laughing too much.Soon,it was time for us to return home.We waved to each other sadly and made our way home.It was a fun yet memorable experience.I will always remember and treasure it.

Personal recount

Today, I went to play basketball with my friends in primary school. We agreed to meet at 3pm at the usual place, but the boys who do not live that near were late again due to the rain earlier on. As the rain had just stopped, the ground was quite wet so the pace of the game was slowed down.
As we continued to play, a light drizzle returned, making the floor which had dried up a little by then totally wet again. But the pace of the game slowly increased, and when one guy-friend was about to carry out a lay-up, he slipped and fell heavily to the ground! All of us laughed so hard, except a serious player who went straight for the ball and scored (that was because we were playing a half-court match).
Unfortunately, the merciless rain did not allow us to play for long. The rain poured so heavily that we were forced to seek shelter. We then proceeded with playing cards till the rain became less heavy so that we could continue the match.
Finally, we went to play pool before having dinner together at the near-by hawker centre and reached home around 8.30pm.

My baby cousin:)

I just saw my 1 year old baby cousin yesterday. We met at Doby Ghaut. Sad to say, he does not like me. Why? I have no idea. Yesterday, while all the adults were busy, I was asked to carry him. He laid in my arms looking at me. He has a chubby face and very soft hair. After a while, or I should say not even one minute, he fidgeted and started crying. I have no choice but to hand him back to grandma. Seeing this situation, my Uncle, the baby's father, told me. He is also not well liked by his own son. Of course, my grandmother said that it is just the way I am carrying him is not very comfortable. Especially beginners like me. After that, my mother, made a funny sound with the mouth, making him laugh. But when I tried to mimic,he cried. Isn't it obvious that he does not like me. Haha. Hope he does like me in future!!!

Personal Recount .

Iffah:

Today was April Fools day. A day where there would be tons of laughter and joy . Usually , between the teachers and students . The class planned to do some tricks on the teachers . I guess it was a last minute planned , but i think it was still great .

During Maths lesson, our first class , we acted as though we were all tired or sleeping . I guess it was abit too boring for Mr Ng . I think its half success . On the second period , we had Drama class . When the minute hand touches the hour hand , we froze . Mr Neil was amazed as we where very noisy when suddenly there was complete silence . The plan for changing class during reading was a failure . I don't know what happened but the other class members when back to the class and said that the trick cou;d not be done . That was all the trick that we did today !
